On the wall above the door of the cloister of the Franciscan monastery in Virovitica, on July 25, 2002, the vertical sundial was completed. It was blessed and solemnly presented on August 11, 2002 at the beginning of the week in which the City Day was celebrated - Feast of St. Rocco. Measuring the azimuth of the wall showed that it lies in the plane of the first vertical. Surrounded by high walls and roofs of the monastery and the high roof of the church of Saint Roch on the south side, this sundial shows the apparent solar time during the midday hours from late February to mid-October. This sundial was artistically designed and painted by art educator Vilim Šolc while measurement, calculation and installation of metal parts was made by Zlatko F. Kovačević. Sundial motto, "Christ, yesterday, today, always", was chosen by the Franciscan Friars, Fr Benko Horvat and guardian, Fr Robert Perišić.
